Massage Policies and Procedures

At AA Remedial Massage Therapy in Fairfield West, North South Wales, it is my intention to provide my clients with professional and therapeutic massage services to enhance their wellbeing and to assist in the promotion of a healthy body and mind.

The following policies and procedures serve as a guide for first-time and regular massage clients including corporate business clients.
I understand that unanticipated events occur in everyone’s life. Unforeseen events such as last-minute meetings, traffic considerations and project deadlines, are just a few reasons why one might consider cancelling a massage appointment. If so, please call 0413821443 or leave a message.

Arrival to Your Remedial Massage

Please arrive for your massage appointment 10 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time. This allows you the time for a relaxed and unhurried experience and to fill in any forms needed.

If late arrival is inevitable, your service(s) will be shortened to keep on schedule. No full or partial refunds will be given.

Cancellation Policy

Businesses and Private Clients

Corporate clients must provide at least 72 hours of notice if you need to reschedule, cancel or edit your appointment. If your appointment is on a Monday, notice must be given 72 hours before your appointment that Wednesday; weekends do not count toward the 72-hour notice policy.

If you fail to cancel prior to 72 hours before your remedial massage appointment, but you give more than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged a 50% fee. Full refunds will not be given.

Cancellations or appointment modifications with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full fee for services. No refunds will be provided for deposits or cancellations received less than 24 hours before a scheduled appointment.

Additionally, events with a therapist that have been scheduled and confirmed will be charged a 10% non-refundable fee for any cancellation or change, no matter how much notice is given. An event is defined as anything a company books with us.

Late Arrival Policy

I regret that late arrivals will not receive an extension of scheduled onsite massage appointments. In exceptional cases, and when my schedule will allow, I may be able to accommodate a partial or full appointment. This will be at my discretion and only with proper, advanced notification of your late arrival. The original reservation fee will be charged.

No Show Policy

Clients who fail to show for clinic massage appointments will not be given a full or partial refund. It is important that the therapist is compensated for reserved time slots.

Informed Consent

Prior to each remedial massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed with you. At your first visit with us, you will receive an electronic copy of the onsite massage therapy policies and will be asked to sign electronically the consent stating that you have read the information, understood it and agreed to comply with the professional remedial massage therapy policies and procedures.

In addition, I will ask you to bring a copy to the clinic. If you or an additional person is coming with you for a massage or any client for that matter is under 17, he or she must be in the company of a responsible adult during the massage.

Payment Policies

Businesses

Payments for services are due at the end of the day on the day of service. For events over $1,000, I require a 50% deposit prior to your event to schedule services. I do not accept checks and credit cards. Only Cash payments are accepted.

Normal Clients

Cash and rebate are also facilities in the clinic.

Scope of Practice

The business is a registered and licensed business with several professional associations, which promote further development and education to all therapists. In fact, following a code of conduct and associations’ guidelines is always required. My practice respects confidentiality and promotes respect for everyone.
Massage Therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques and adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and wellbeing of the client. The massage therapists do not diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions nor allowed to provide treatment for a specific condition without a doctor’s supervision.
The remedial massage therapist is required to refer you for diagnosis and to follow recommendations of your physician or general practitioner (GP).

Professional Boundaries

Requests for sexual activity will not be tolerated, will be viewed as solicitation and will be reported to the proper authorities under the guidelines of the remedial massage therapy policies and procedures. The client will not be rescheduled if this occurs.

The breast and genital area will not be massaged under any circumstances. A professional distance will be maintained from these areas. In addition, low back, hip and the gluteal area will be massaged only on request. Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and the massage therapist is never appropriate.

Existing and New Medical Conditions

It is the responsibility of the client to keep the massage therapist informed of any medical treatment currently being taken and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that the remedial massage may be continued. The client must also keep the remedial massage therapist informed of any changes in health conditions.

Respect for Client Needs and Boundaries

The massage therapist at AA Remedial Massage Therapy is happy to adjust pressure, musical volume and work longer in an area or move on if you request it. The client may choose to refuse any remedial massage methods, stop massage at any time and is free to leave.

Confidentiality and Conversation

The discussion between the onsite massage therapist and the client is confidential. The client may or may not choose to talk during the onsite massage. I am happy to listen to your conversation and share my professional expertise. I prefer not to discuss topics of a political, private or sexual nature.

Practice’s Procedures

  • The work and public areas should be clear and clean at all times in the practice
  • Oils should be filled and in working order
  • Draping of the table before the client arrives for massage
  • Towels are correctly used and folded for massage
  • Use appropriate music and volume to please the client
  • Maintain a diary to book clients and to take their information and make sure to input client treatments too
  • Maintain appropriate language in the practice and noise levels
  • Discard used towels in the appropriate basket away from clients
  • As a sole trader, my employment arrangements, duty of care responsibilities, leave entitlements and the attendance policy and procedures lay on me
  • I am responsible for contributing to my super, organize my payment and distribute money for bills
